Hurricane Matthew hit our state and impacted many of our neighbors lives. Our first response was to gather flood buckets. Our youth also put together comfort kits for the Salvation Army to distribute to those who had to evacuate to the upstate. Now we are going to help repair homes in South Carolina.
An eight person team from SUMC traveled to Florence in late October to assist Mrs. Hazel Smith, whose grounds were damaged by Hurricane Matthew. Downed trees were cut and hauled away, the cyclone fence was repaired as well as electrical work. A second team went in November to work on damaged homes in Nichols South Carolina.
If you are interested in going with a future team please contact the church office.
